Thomson East Coast Line (TEL) Stage 3 to open in 2nd half of 2022
The Transport Minister recently announced on 9 March 2022 during a debate on the Ministry’s spending plans that of the thirteen MRT stations along the TEL Stage 3 from Mount Pleasant to Gardens by the Bay, 11 no. will be in operation during the second half of this year. The outstanding stations at Mount Pleasant and Marina South will be opened later after 2022 in line with completion of housing projects in those areas.
Stage 1 opened on 31 January 2021 and Stage 2 on 28 August 2021.
Covid-19
A BCA Circular issued on 3 March 2022 informed the Built Environment sector of further measures to assist in claims for extension of time under eligible contracts.
A summary of circulars issued to date with respective periods granted is as follows:-
30 Nov 2020: For period between 7 April and 6 August 2020, a universal EOT of 122 days granted
27 April 2021: For period between 7 August and 31 Dec 2021 an ex gratia EOT of 49 days granted
10 Nov 2021: For period between 1 Jan and 30 June 2021 an ex gratia period of 34 days granted
3 March 2022: For period between 1 July and 30 Sept 2021 an EOT of 5 days per month granted. For period between 1 Oct to 31 Dec 2021 an EOT of 4 days per month granted. For period between 1 Jan to 28 Feb 2022 an EOT of 3 days per month granted
Total period to date: 238 days
